medical care in this country is a joke. So i start feeling sick, yeah i could go get examined, figure out what's wrong with me only to have yet another pre-existing exclusion on my next health insurance plan and get fucked out of living a healthy life. Message there kids: either work one job to retain one health insurance plan your whole life, thereby avoiding the pre-existing condition clause, or get sick. Very sick. people in this country are scared shitless of getting sick. Cancer for somebody in my income bracket is as good as a death sentence even if you get cured. Luckily I have insurance. But am I going to be able to work on chemo when I'm required to work the 32 hours to keep my insurance? So what happens when I lose my insurance halfway through treatment? I guess I keep trucking on fighting to live. In the words of the Late Warren Zevon, it's a crime to not try to live. But then I'm cured, and a couple hundred thousand in debt. Luckily it's also a crime to collect interest on medical bills. I guess I'll just never own that dream house in the suburbs. And even if I managed to keep my job this whole time, there's no fucking way I'm working there the rest of my life. I'll be doomed to exclusions. Life-threatening exclusions.

"Sorry, we'd love to help you but you told us you were sick to begin with. Remember?"

And then there's the millions without health coverage. They just wait until they lose consciousness or can't breath then go to the ER. Fuck symptoms.

Thank you America.

I just get so fucking mad sometimes. How can such a "benevolent" democracy such as ours allow it's own citizens to die needlessly? There's no reason anymore for people to not have cancer diagnosed until stage 2 or 3. We have the capability to catch most cancers early now. If there wasn't a general FEAR surrounding the health care industry in this country, problems would be caught early and fixed cheaply. Taxpayers and paying hospital patients end up footing the bills for all the "deadbeats". If it was subsidized by the government, like in canada, it would cost us as a society so much less in terms of life and money. Why do we fucking put up with this? Why aren't we marching on congress demanding universal health care like in every other rich industrial nation in the world? What the fuck is wrong with us? Did you know that the only thing that makes the cost of our health care system in this country so expensive is the system itself? (and obese people, but that's another rant) If it was socialized, it would be so much cheaper. Doctors wouldn't have to pay extortion, er I mean malpractice insurance as it's a lot harder to succesfully sue the government. Research would be gov't subsidized, so it wouldn't be in our hospital or prescription bills. Those living in poverty would get preventative check ups to catch diseases early instead of going to the emergency room.

oh what a beautiful world that would be. Maybe the holidays this year wouldn't be depressing for a reason. Instead it would just be depressing because being depressed around this time is stylish. And I could finally have my back checked out and fixed. Fuck yeah. That's what I want for Christmas.

whatever.

not that anybody reads this. I'm really writing this for the archives I guess. I should go to sleep, I'm tired and way too emotional.

Maybe I'll see you kids on Thursday. I fucking hate christmas so I have no problem spending it in the studio.

Tune me in, 12/25 at 6 o clock. 99.1 FM fool. Maybe it will be me, and maybe it will be some jackass in milwaukee.

I love you guys. Please look out for each other.

Saddam was caught, wasn't he? It's nice to see things going right in Iraq for a change. Last week's show was so full of bad news from there that I think I talked about Iraq for almost an hour. The only problem I see coming from this bit of news are two things: 1. Bush is gloating and 2. They're saying now that finding the WMD will be easy because they're assuming he'll tell them where they are.

Well... we already know he's "not cooperating" in handing over information about WMD. In fact, sources have heard him say that the WMD were just something the US invented to go to war and steal Iraq's oil and that he remains steadfast on that point. And as far as the Shrub's comments go: Yes, Iraqi's no longer have to fear Saddam's rule. But you didn't say anything about the next regime you put in power and give weapons and money to. It hasn't happened yet, and already most Iraqis fear it.

I'm also afraid that this may boost his approval rating. We can't let that happen. No matter. In two or three months, when people realized Saddam's capture had no affect on the subversive attacks they'll start crying foul again.

-- Digression --

I recently went to a comedy club. First of all... the cover charge was $18. Luckily I had free tickets, but a lot of people didn't. Additionally, there's a two drink minimum. The cheapest drink at this place was $3.50 for domestic bottled beer. The drink menus are confusing and non-specific, and you end up ordering what you thought was a $5 mixed drink, but ends up costing $7.50. I don't think anybody walks out of there without spending at least $20 each, $40 if you count cover.

Anyhow, I brought this up because one of the (awful) comedians brought up France. This comic was very middle of the road... so rather than make fun of France for good reasons (like inventing words to avoid anglicizing their language) he chose the one that all mediocre comics go for: The French are Cowards.

I hate this. First of all, France was not a combatant in the war for very long. Germany engaged France on May 12th, 1940. France signed an Armistice with Germany on June 22nd, 1940. Barely a month and a half. What most of us don't know is that France had over 200,000 military deaths and almost half a million civilian deaths. That's a lot for a month and a half.

Consider this. You're a French general. Your enemy has the fastest tanks in europe, planes, trucks, motorcycles, lots of heavy artillery, machine guns, well trained and very loyal troops, and an almost religious fanaticism. Your own troops only have bolt action rifles, some artillery, and if they aren't walking they're on horseback.

Would you surrender? Almost definitely after one and a half months of fighting an army that outnumbers you and is two full military generations ahead of you.

Let's stop picking on the French. They put up a damn good fight while they could.

Bad things shouldn't happen to cute white girls...
"Dec. 15 issue - Dru Sjodin turns heads. The 22-year-old University of North Dakota senior with blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, the homecoming queen in high school, as well as an honor studentwas strolling through ..."

Even the supposedly objective news copy from that newsweek article can't refrain from eluding to how cute and white Dru Sjodin is. It is very sad what has happened to poor Dru. Nobody should suffer such a horrific crime. That being said, I would like ask all these main stream media outlets where they were when Tionda and Diamond Bradley were abducted? I would also like to ask them how many times they put information relating to poor Alexis Patterson's case on their real-time ticker? How many family members and friends of these girls were interviewed?

The Bradley sisters have been missing since July of 2001. Dru went missing just under three weeks ago. Do not mistake me, increased publicity increases the chance of finding an abductee. But I guess Alexis, Tionda and Diamond should have been born white if they ever hoped of getting half as much attention. Even after the police found a DNA match for blood in the suspects car, almost assuring that Dru is lying dead somewhere, Ms. Sjodin continues to get more news coverage in one day than the Bradley girls have gotten since July of 01.

I found an interesting article while doing research today.

I know my views might upset some people, but hundreds of people are abducted each year. Only the pretty white ones make it on the evening news. This goes beyond abduction. Just look at the Laci Peterson case. Honestly, how interesting is that case? 12,000 people are killed each year in this country, and for some reason this case has stuck in the news for over a year.

Racial bias has no place in mainstream media. I'm ashamed of everyone who has capitalized on the "sellability" of these victims images to increase their ratings.
